2027 Hyundai Tucson XRT Pro rendered; expected with capable off-road hardware

Moving into its fifth generation, the Hyundai Tucson looks set to offer an XRT Pro trim, which won’t just be an appearance package.

The new grade, which will sit alongside the standard and N variants that we’ve already discussed, is expected to feature functional upgrades for improved off-road capability. Here’s everything we know and expect from the all-new Hyundai Tucson XRT Pro.

Design

With changes such as a flatter hood, new split headlamps with vertical DRLs and a boxy housing for the low- and main-beam lights, a squarer greenhouse, and vertical tail lamps, the fifth-gen Hyundai Tucson will offer a strong base for the XRT Pro trim.

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson XRT Pro, as shown in our exclusive rendering, should come in an exclusive desert-inspired color besides a number of exclusive exterior appointments.

To give the XRT Pro an aggressive and off-road-focused look, Hyundai is expected to rely on special skid plates, grille, window surround, wheel arches, and rocker panels, and exclusive 235/60 R18 Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires.

Analyzing recent spy shots closely, the 2027 Tucson XRT Pro features functional canyon red tow hooks at the front and rear. An XRT Pro badge on the tailgate should complete the special look.

Interior

Inside, everything from the dashboard to the center console, steering wheel, door panels, and seats features a completely new design. The instrument cluster would move to a 9.9-inch slim digital display mounted at the base of the windshield, freeing up space within the dashboard for a recessed open storage area behind the steering wheel.

A stubby, squircle-shaped steering wheel would feature four dot-style LEDs representing the letter “H” in Morse code, replacing the conventional Hyundai logo. The horizontal spokes would integrate multiple push buttons for various functions.

Hyundai would mount the gear selector on the inner side of the steering column to free up space in the center console.

The Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS), would be another highlight. It has been developed in 12.9-, 14.6-, and 17-inch sizes, and at least the 14.6-inch version should be offered in the Tucson XRT Pro with real-time elevation, pitch and roll, and compass displays.

Also expect a bank of key physical controls below the system, including volume knobs and switches for hazard warning light, seat heating, and AC temperature and fan speed.

Specifications

The all-new Hyundai Tucson XRT Pro should have slightly different dimensions from the standard model. Higher ground clearance, better approach, departure, and breakover angles, and exclusive terrain modes such as mud, sand, and snow, only begin to outline the differences we expect in this trim.

The Tucson XRT Pro (rendered) is expected in a new hybrid e-AWD configuration. We see the rugged configuration doing well in states like California, Texas, and South Carolina.

The big headline should be the Tucson XRT Pro Hybrid, featuring the new-generation TMED-II powertrain based on a 1.6-liter turbocharged gas engine and an electric motor on each axle. We expect the system power to be around 235 hp and the system torque to be close to 380 Nm (280 lb.-ft.).

An e-VMC 2.0 feature should independently control the torque of the front and rear motors, improving driving stability, reducing the chances of a rollover during cornering, and minimizing pitch and bounce motions while crossing a speed bump.

A vehicle-to-load (V2L) function with a maximum output of 3.6 kW should allow customers to power external devices, such as a projector or an espresso maker at a campsite, for instance.

The redesigned model (illustrated) appears to expand the Tucson NX5 lineup well beyond the 2026 model we reviewed earlier this year, with variants designed for performance and off-road capability.

We expect the new Hyundai Tucson XRT Pro to go on sale in the U.S. in the first half of 2027, with prices expected to start at around USD 38,000. Competitors include the Honda CR-V TrailSport, Subaru Forester Wilderness, and the Toyota RAV4 Woodland.
