Goodwood was back to its brilliant best as the 82nd Members’ Meeting opened the 2025 motorsport season in fine form. Across a weekend blessed with blue skies, fans were treated to everything from GT3 duels and hypercar demos to classic saloons and legendary tributes.

The event, presented by Audrain Motorsport, was a celebration of engineering, heritage and the ever-evolving future of motorsport.

A heartfelt Senna tribute with Lotus 97T

One of the most emotional highlights was the on-track tribute to Ayrton Senna. With 2025 marking 40 years since his first Formula 1 victory at Estoril, Bruno Senna took the wheel of his uncle’s iconic Lotus 97T.

With the support of Classic Team Lotus, the car thundered around the Goodwood Circuit in a spine-tingling demonstration. Fans will have another chance to witness history repeat itself as the Lotus 97T returns to Estoril for a commemorative drive on the exact anniversary – 21 April.

GT3 Shoot-Out: Big names, big noise

Modern GT3 machines brought fresh excitement to the historic circuit. Representing marques like Aston Martin, Ferrari, BMW, McLaren, Mercedes and Lamborghini, a stunning fleet of GT3 cars battled in a no-holds-barred Shoot-Out.

The final result saw Andrew Jordan take victory in the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.R, followed by Phil Keen in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, and Andy Priaulx – House Captain for Aubigny – rounding off the podium in a BMW Z4 GT3.

JOTA Sport’s silver celebration – and a hypercar debut

JOTA Sport marked its 25th anniversary in serious style. The team unveiled the Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh, giving the car its European debut. This was also the first time a current WEC Hypercar had tackled the Goodwood track.

Drivers Will Stevens and Alex Lynn gave a powerful display of pace and control in what became one of the weekend’s must-see demos. The paddocks also featured class winners from Le Mans, including a Hertz Team JOTA Porsche 963 LMDh.

Alpine’s 70th anniversary: A parade of icons

Marking 70 years of Alpine, the French marque put on a nostalgic and forward-looking show. A parade of 70 Alpine cars, including multiple generations of A110, GTA, and A610 models, lit up the track.

The future also made an appearance. The Alpine A110 R Ultimate made its UK public debut, with its lightweight, track-focused credentials attracting plenty of interest in the paddock.

Hollywood meets horsepower

Adding a dash of glamour, IWC Schaffhausen brought the fictional APXGP Formula 1 Team to life. In collaboration with the upcoming F1 film, the brand offered an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek at how race scenes were filmed.

Actors Damson Idris and Kerry Condon made guest appearances, and the IWC garage displayed the actual race car from the movie, giving fans a rare view of the crossover between cinema and motorsport.

Racing on sustainable fuel

Goodwood continues to lead the way in eco-conscious motorsport. Following the historic use of sustainable fuel at the 2024 Revival, the 82nd Members’ Meeting saw all thirteen races run on low-carbon fuel.

It’s another bold move towards a greener future, proving that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand.

Small cars, big thrills: The Win Percy Trophy

Debuting this year, the Win Percy Trophy brought a new dimension. Packed with Group 1 touring cars like the Mini 1275GT, VW Golf, and Ford Fiesta, the grid featured motorsport legends from F1, Le Mans and Touring Cars.

Jake Hill and Kerry Michael stormed to victory in the Ford Escort, showing that these small saloons still know how to race hard.

Classic bike battles and saloon car nostalgia

The Hailwood Trophy (featuring the Sheen Trophy) delivered a spectacular showcase of 250cc and 350cc classic GP bikes. Dan Jackson claimed overall victory after a gripping contest.

The Gordon Spice Trophy brought out 1970s and ’80s saloons including Ford Capri Mk3s, Chevrolet Camaros, and Rover SD1s – a race ultimately won by Romain Dumas and Fred Shepherd.

Elsewhere, the Whitmore Cup returned with pre-1966 saloons like the Lotus Cortina and Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA. Guy Smith triumphed, proving these historic machines still have plenty of fight.

Gordon Murray Automotive steals the spotlight

Gordon Murray Automotive took pride of place on Brooklands Lawn with a jaw-dropping display of cars and engines. Fans could get up close to the T.33, the T.50s track car, and the marque’s finely crafted V12 engines.

Dario Franchitti, House Captain for Torbolton and a four-time IndyCar champion, drove the T.50s in a high-speed demonstration. The brand’s celebration will continue at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where GMA will headline the Central Feature sculpture.

Auction action: Icons under the hammer

Bonhams Cars delivered a memorable auction. Highlights included a 1928 Bentley Vanden Plas (£290,950), a 1912 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost (£195,500), and a 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto Coupé that sold for £333,500. However, the auction did highlight a trend in the Classic Car market, see video below.

Further news, Bonhams Cars and Goodwood renewed their partnership, ensuring world-class auctions will continue at major events for the next five years.

Fun beyond the track

11. Firework diplsy at the Saturday evening party. 82nd Members' Meeting.

Goodwood’s charm goes beyond the racing. The House Games returned with everything from duck herding to axe throwing. Torbolton, led by Dario Franchitti, claimed the trophy after a series of crowd-pleasing contests.

The Gurney Cup closed Saturday’s track action at sunset, followed by fireworks and live music – a real treat for Goodwood Road Racing Club Members and Fellows.

Visitors also raised a glass to Eddie Jordan at ‘Eddie’s Bar’ – a Brooklands Lawn takeover turned into an Irish pub, complete with the original Jordan 191 F1 car on display.
