Gravity to offer 500 kW public EV charging at eight sites in Greater Los Angeles

Gravity, an EVSE hardware and software developer and EV charging site operator, plans to deploy a network of eight public charging sites across greater Los Angeles, offering charging power of up to 500 kW—a blazing-fast rate that only a few of the latest EV models can take advantage of.

The sites will be located in East Pasadena, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, North Hills and Thousand Oaks, all neighborhoods that the company describes as “high-speed charging deserts.” The first locations are expected to open in 2025.

Each of the new sites will be equipped with around twelve of Gravity’s proprietary Distributed Energy Access Points. “First deployed in New York City in 2024, the UL-listed DEAPs have consistently broken records with the fastest-ever charging speeds across all vehicle makes and models,” sez the company.

The sites will be designed to anticipate the needs of autonomous vehicles. Gravity will be piloting new charging technologies that will require no human involvement, including specially designed lanes, sensors and “cableless charging tech.” The sites will also be equipped with bidirectional V2G equipment that can supply power to neighboring communities and to the grid in emergencies.

“These new 500 kW sites are going to be a game-changer for Los Angelenos,” said Moshe Cohen, founder and CEO of Gravity. “They will be far faster and more reliable than anything drivers and fleet operators have experienced, with autonomous vehicle engineering and vehicle-to-grid equipment that will make them the most advanced sites in the nation.”
