People go to great lengths to express the love they have for their dogs. Some cook steak for them. Others knit sweaters for their canines. Then there are those who throw birthday parties for their doggos. One family commissioned the Rolls-Royce Spectre Bailey, a bespoke version of the automaker’s first EV, to honor its beloved Labrador/Golden Retriever.
The doting pet parents are based in the United States and worked with Rolls-Royce’s Private Office New York to create the Bespoke EV. “We are lifelong car enthusiasts, yes, but we are also lifelong animal lovers, and our dog Bailey is a cherished member of our family. When we started our Rolls-Royce Spectre commission, we saw the opportunity to create something beautiful which would remind us of him for decades to come. Working with the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective, we were surprised at every turn with their wonderful ideas—the wood inlay, or the paw prints on the sill—which added so much to the experience. Spectre Bailey is everything we hoped for and more; it’s a joyful tribute to our loyal companion.”

One of the ways in which Bailey’s family honored him was through the use of color. Spectre Bailey wears a two-tone finish: iridescent Crystal Fusion on top and Beautiful Bailey below, the latter a color inspired by Bailey’s soft ears. In a way, Bailey left his own mark on the all-electric coupe because the Coachline features a hand-painted Rose Gold reproduction of one of his paw prints.

There are more Bailey-themed colors in the cabin. The Moccasin and Crème Light leather is accented with High Gloss Royal Walnut veneers and Dark Spice and Casden Tan trim, which mimics the color of Bailey’s fur.

The most obvious nod to Bailey—aside from the reproductions of his paw print on the door sill treadplates and dashboard—is the intricate portrait of his face on the “waterfall” between the two rear seats. According to Rolls-Royce, it consists of more than 180 pieces of unstained veneer in 22 shades, and took more than four months to assemble. Bailey’s tongue and its color variations alone required four veneers: Purple Heart, Tulipwood, Louro Faia, and Pear, none of which Rolls-Royce has used previously.

Rolls-Royce’s willingness to try new things in its one-off builds has been a consistent theme, so the intricacy of the Spectre Baily isn’t shocking. What is a little surprising is that Bailey’s family chose a coupe for the Bespoke treatment instead of the more spacious and rugged Cullinan, which seems as if it would be the go-to Rolls for families with pets. Bentley certainly leaned into that demographic with its Pet Accessory Range for the Bentayga.
