Bobcat has introduced the B16-20-NT series, the OEM’s first three-wheel forklift range based exclusively on lithium-ion technology. The B16NT, B18NT and B20NT models are designed for light to medium-duty applications in in-plant logistics.
The compact three-wheel forklifts offer load capacities from 1.6 to 2.0 tonnes at a 500mm load centre. Each model is equipped with a 4.5kW dual drive system, a 12kW hydraulic motor and a maintenance-free lithium-ion battery. The series features a small turning radius for operation in narrow warehouse aisles.
The operator compartment includes ergonomically designed seats with generous legroom, a low entrance, and an intuitive colour display with onboard diagnostics. Optional fingertip controls are available. An electric parking brake with ramp stop function is fitted as standard.
Alongside the NT series launch, Bobcat is introducing its own lithium-ion batteries as an alternative to lead-acid battery packs for its existing electric forklift range. The new batteries are available in 400Ah and 600Ah versions across all voltages and series, with CAN bus integration eliminating the need for a separate display.
The batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4/LFP) cell chemistry and include an integrated thermal management system enabling operation at temperatures down to -18°C. The Machine IQ telematics and diagnostics system allows real-time monitoring of system data.
According to Bobcat, the service life of its lithium-ion batteries is two to three times longer than conventional lead-acid batteries, with lower maintenance requirements and higher efficiency. Operating data, charging cycles and battery status can be monitored via the Bobcat Machine IQ app. The batteries carry a five-year or 10,000 operating hours warranty.
Bobcat has also developed a range of charging solutions for the lithium-ion batteries. Depending on the model, full charging takes approximately two hours at charging capacities up to 300A. The chargers are available for both 51.2V and 80V systems covering capacities from 400 to 600Ah, with flexible connectivity options including 16A and 32A plugs.
