The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 arrives as a carry-over model from 2025 with a significantly reduced price, upgraded charging cable, new color options, and a new battery pack supplier. We recently got to spend some time with the 2026 Ioniq 5, and here are our observations on Hyundai’s best-selling electric model in the U.S. market.
Design

For 2026, Hyundai has introduced a new Sage Silver Matte option to the palette while also adding the previously XRT-exclusive Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl to the entire range. The SEL trim now features MFR-type LED headlights instead of the projector-type units used last year, and power-folding outside mirrors are no longer included on this mid-tier trim.
The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 keeps its retro-futuristic aesthetic with sharp creases and angular body lines, which was refreshed for the previous model year. At the front, the Pixel LED headlights and clamshell hood with the wide, horizontal elements give it a low and planted stance.
Moving to the side, the hatchback-like silhouette masks the actual size of the car with the sharp Z-shaped diagonal crease and aggressive angle of the C-Pillar. At the rear, the pixel-lighting theme continues in the taillight with the roof spoiler and minimal overhang, contributing to the sporty theme.
Interior

The 2026 model year brings a few minor updates. The steering wheel is now wrapped in H-Tex instead of leatherette, and heated rear outboard seats are added to the Limited trim. Power-folding mirrors and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Premium are no longer listed on SEL, with both features now limited to the top-end Limited and XRT trims.
For 2026, Hyundai also adjusts the Rear Occupant Alert system availability across the range. The SE and SEL trims use the basic door-logic version only, while the radar-based Advanced Rear Occupant Alert is restricted to the Limited.

Infotainment is handled by the same 12.3-inch ccNC touchscreen system with 6 speakers. The Limited trim continues to feature a premium Bose system with 8 speakers and an external amp, along with a Premium Head-up Display.
As we experienced in the earlier model, the Ioniq 5’s interior is an open space with large windows and a flat floor coupled with the long wheelbase of the car. The Universal Island center console features physical controls for frequently used functions, with the wireless charging pad positioned on the upper section of the console.

The 2026 models get an upgraded Level 1/Level 2 combo charging cable included as standard. Hyundai has also switched completely to SK Innovation as the battery supplier for 2026, replacing the 2025 model’s Mobis-supplied pack, with a marginally lower pack weight.
The midsize crossover continues with an overall length of 183.3 inches, a width of 74.4 inches, a height of 63.0 inches, and a wheelbase of 118.1 inches. The short overhangs preserve the squared stance and cabin space of the car.
Power is rated at 168 hp for the RWD Standard Range, 225 hp for the RWD Long Range, and 320 hp for the AWD. Battery options include a 63.0 kWh pack on the RWD Standard Range, while the RWD and AWD continue with the 84.0 kWh pack.
In Level 2 charging, the car goes from 10-100 percent in 5 hours and 40 minutes for the 63.0 kWh battery and 7 hours and 20 minutes for the 84.0 kWh version. NACS DC fast charging at 150 kW takes the battery from 10-80 percent in 24 minutes on the 63.0 kWh model and 30 minutes on the 84.0 kWh model.
Estimate for miles added in a 15-minute DC session are 137.3 miles for the Standard Range, and 178.1 miles for the Long Range.
Price

One of the biggest draws of the 2026 Ioniq 5 lineup is the substantial reduction in pricing across the range with price reduced by USD 7,600 on the base SE RWD Standard Range which now starts at USD 35,000. For the top Limited trim, prices decrease by USD 9,225 and now it starts at USD 48,975.
The maximum price reduction is seen on the SEL AWD and SEL RWD versions which now start at USD 43,300 and USD 39,800 getting a price reduction of USD 9,800. The prices mentioned above do not include USD 1,600 freight charges. All 2026 variants and trims are already in production and readily available with Hyundai U.S. dealers.
