Following reports of a fire that occurred at a Proton body and paint dealership facility in Sungai Buloh, the carmaker has issued an official statement.
“At approximately 5pm on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, a fire broke out at Proton Salient Progress (B&P), located at Lot 906 & 907, Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, 40160 Shah Alam, Selangor. The Fire & Rescue Department (Bomba) was contacted immediately and successfully brought the blaze under control by 8:00pm.
“The cause and extent of damage resulting from the incident are currently under investigation. At this point, there is no indication that the incident was caused by any product-related issue. Importantly, no injuries or loss of life were reported,” the statement read.
“The incident is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities, with the dealer working closely with them throughout the process. Proton will support the dealer in addressing customer-related matters, and affected customers will be contacted immediately.
“The Salient Progress Kepong 4S showroom, located at No. 246, Batu 6 1/2, Jln Besar Kepong, 52000 Kuala Lumpur is unaffected and continues normal daily operations,” concluded the statement.
