Hawaii Green new Jeep Compass Electric gives off bold, tropical vibes

The U.S.-bound third-gen Jeep Compass has just started arriving in European dealer showrooms. Like the second-gen Citroen C5 Aircross, it is among Stellantis’ initial models based on the STLA Medium platform and includes a battery-electric variant.

We recently had the opportunity to take a close look at the Jeep Compass Electric in a striking two-tone paint scheme that combines its signature Hawaii Green with a contrasting Vulcan shade on the roof. Here are some interesting observations we made in the Euro-spec model:

Design

The Jeep Compass Electric has a familiar ruggedness but looks more upmarket and more European compared to the gas-powered second-gen model currently sold in the U.S. It is noticeably bigger, and its low and wide stance gives it a more dynamic appearance.

At the front, the Compass Electric features boxy but sleek LED matrix headlamps, a covered seven-slot upper grille, and an active lower grille. A high ground clearance and trapezoidal wheel arches convey the SUV’s ruggedness, while the elongated greenhouse immediately gives away its bigger footprint.

At the rear, the taillights form an “X” signature and feature an inward extension that ends near an illuminated Jeep logo.

Interior

Inside, the Jeep Compass Electric features a clean, horizontal dashboard layout with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 16-inch touchscreen, and a head-up display. The three-spoke steering wheel has an “X”-shaped design around the control pads and carries an embossed Jeep grille motif with the brand’s signature seven slots and round headlamps.

The front seats integrate massage, heating, and ventilation functions, along with a memory function for the driver. The Compass Electric also features a wireless smartphone charging pad, a Focal premium sound system with nine speakers and a subwoofer, and a range of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.

Specifications

The Euro-spec Jeep Compass Electric measures 4,552 mm (179.2 in.) in length, 1,928 mm (75.9 in.) in width, and 1,652 mm (65.0 in.) in height and has a 2,795 mm (110.0 in.) wheelbase. In Germany, Jeep has announced 157 kW (211 hp) and 170 kW (228 hp) FWD variants and a 276 kW (370 hp) AWD variant.

Initially, Jeep is offering only the 157 kW (211 hp) FWD variant, which packs 345 Nm (254 lb.-ft.) of torque. This configuration gives the Compass Electric a 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) acceleration time of 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). A 74 kWh battery pack powers the front motor and delivers a WLTP range of up to 500 kilometers (311 miles).

The 170 kW FWD variant will have a larger battery pack that delivers a WLTP range of 650 kilometers. Jeep plans to launch it soon, followed by the 276 kW (370 hp) AWD variant later in 2026.

Price

The Jeep Compass Electric is available in Germany in Altitude and First Edition grades, priced at EUR 47,900 and EUR 50,400, respectively.
