Update: Additional info added to Interior, Specifications, and Price & Release Date sections.
The GV60 Magma expands Genesis into high-performance EV territory and introduces the company’s hardware and software updates for premium electric performance crossovers.
Besides a host of upgrades, the brand says that it has improved front and rear motor cooling and durability for more consistent output during sustained high-power driving. It also upgraded 2-stage motor control to extend how long the vehicle can hold peak output in Boost Mode.
Recently, we got to spend some time with the GV60 Magma up close, and here’s what we learned:
Design
At the front, the grille of the GV60 is differentiated using a widened intake and canards dominating the nose, accented by three distinct “nostril” vents above the grille, which are the signature design feature of the Magma range.

Moving to the side, the GV60 Magma drops all chrome highlights and replaces them with gloss-black material. It features body-colored side skirts with three vents behind each front wheel.
The car sits about three-quarters of an inch closer to the ground with widened fenders to contain the Magma-exclusive 21-inch wheels paired with 275-millimeter tires fitted with cooling aero discs. Genesis says the wide-bodied summer tires developed specifically for the GV60 Magma offers higher traction and quicker steering response.
At the rear, a wing-type spoiler with fins on both ends adds to the high-performance theme, coupled with a redesigned all-black lower bumper section.
Interior
Genesis fits a Magma-specific 10-way power bucket seat up front with ventilation, memory, and a cushion extension.

Unique touches begin with ambient orange lighting, with the steering wheel incorporating Magma-specific parts such as a unique rim, a black emblem, and orange accents on the drive mode and boost controls. The steering wheel also features a bright orange Magma button as well as a boost button.
Genesis also upgraded sound insulation in the door trim and floor. It reinforced door sealing and increased the thickness of the driver’s door glass sound film to reduce wind noise at highway speeds. Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) is also included to reduce road noise.
The GV60 Magma receives exclusive GUI upgrades, with Magma mode prominently displaying data including motor and battery temperatures, vehicle speed, and G-force in a three-circle layout.
Experience in the GV60 Magma

The Magma’s cabin immediately feels different from a standard GV60 once you step in. The orange accents pop out, including the orange seatbelts, stitching, and tubing, creating a clear Magma identity.
The special front seats with their suede-like material feel very comfortable and offer strong shoulder, back, and under-thigh support. The integrated thigh extenders will help taller drivers, and the side bolstering gives the seats a sporty feel without making them too thick and heavy.
The adjustable headrests provide solid head support. The steering wheel adds two Magma-specific controls, with both a Magma button and a Boost button that visually separate it from the standard variants. The unique crystal sphere gear selector remain unchanged from the standard GV60.

The rear seat experience stays consistent with the regular GV60. The headrests are adjustable, and overall support is good, though the seats do not slide, which limits boot flexibility.
The materials and stitching take after the Magma theme with orange details, offering a slightly different visual experience. The center armrest is retained, which makes the experience a bit more comfortable.
Specifications
The GV60 Magma’s front and rear motors generate a maximum combined output of 609 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. Boost Mode raises output to 650 hp and 583 lb-ft for about 15 seconds.
Launch Control and Boost Mode work together to enable acceleration from 0 to 124 mph in 10.9 seconds and can propel the GV60 Magma to reach a top speed of 164 mph.

Genesis says the GV60 Magma uses a Magma-exclusive drive mode set. GT mode targets stability and ride comfort at high speed. Sprint mode targets maximum performance.
Genesis includes High-Performance Battery Control (HPBC) to manage battery temperature and motor output. Launch Control is designed to pre-condition the system for maximum torque at launch.
The GV60 Magma also adds a Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) function that varies output delivery, torque response, and regenerative braking to replicate gear changes. Genesis pairs it with the electronic Active Sound Design (e-ASD+) and a Magma-specific digital interface.
Price & Release Date
Genesis has launched the GV60 Magma in South Korea, which is its first market, at a price of 96.57 million KRW (USD 66,089).

While Genesis has not yet released pricing details or a launch timeline for the U.S., we expect it to arrive here sometime later this year with a fair price premium over the USD 71,875 starting MSRP of the Performance AWD trim, which is the current flagship of the range.
As for the Canadian-spec model, we expect Genesis to introduce the GV60 Magma to the Canadian market later in 2026. Pricing details have not been announced, but we expect it to start north of CAD 98,000.
