This information was gathered compiling NHTSA.gov complaints, Tundras.com forum, Facebook groups, recall information and our own reporting.

Before we get into the known problems, keep in mind, this list includes all the issues people are reporting online.

There are always going to be owners who have had none of these issues and are enjoying their Tundra trucks.

People who love their trucks don’t tend to post about it.

It is also worth noting, I found a trend with many owners who had owned 2022-2023 models stating they felt their 2025 models were built better.

3.4-liter V6 Engine Concerns

The largest concern impacting 2024-2025 Toyota Tundra trucks is under the hood.

For several years now, Toyota has had an ongoing recall for its 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 (V35a) engines. The recall is due to complete engine failure due to a bearing failure.

Toyota has expanded this recall to include the 2024 model year. They have stated, in public documents, they are finding debris in the engine due to manufacturing issues. Toyota says they are implementing new manufacturing processes within their engine plants in the U.S. and in Japan to address these issues and are tracking new concerns closely.

What about 2025 Toyota Tundra trucks? Looking over the 22 pages of complaints on NHTSA.gov, as of this article’s timing, there are 2 issues of engines failing. On forums and Facebook groups, there are also a few that have failed as well.

It isn’t the massive numbers we first saw back in the 2020-2022 model years, yet there are still reports out there.

Also, the recall does still only applies to gas-only versions of the powertrain. The hybrid or iForceMax does not have a recall due to still have “motive energy to move forward” if the engine fails.

Throttle Lag Issues

Doing research for this article, the assumption was I’d find all sorts of engine failure concerns. However, I found MANY more reports for throttle lag concerns.

The NHTSA complaints are filled with complaints, as are the forums and many Facebook groups.

Here is a sampling of the reports:

This is a known issue on previous year vehicles. Gas pedal response is delayed excessively causing scenarios where one could become injured if attempting to pull out from a full stop or rolling stop expecting the vehicle to move and it doesn’t. Reference Toyota TSB-0111-22 for vehicle hesitation while accelerating. Brought my vehicle into a Toyota dealer in Scranton PA on 12/16/2025 with this info and they were unable to duplicate the issue along with stating that TSB does not apply to this year vehicle. Look online there are tons of forums stating this issue is still present in the newer year models like mine which is a 2025. This is a serious problem as it’s happened at random with no clear reasoning other than potential programming issue between the transmission and gas pedal coding.

Another one:

Continue getting a 1-2 second delay when accelerating from a dead stop after pushing on gas pedal with normal acceleration- not just an “lead foot” acceleration trying to quickly clear my intersection & merge into traffic. Happens when engine is at normal operating system or just pulling out of my neighborhood onto a 45mph road on a normal temp day.

Owners report they are able to change drive modes and it helps. They either select Sport or Tow/Haul mode to change the throttle response to be improved.

Several people have been looking into aftermarket solutions like Pedal Commander or Banks Pedal Monster to improve the throttle response.

It has been a mix of results with some reporting slight improvements and others still not satisfied.

Wind Noise on Driver’s Side and from Driver’s Side Mirror

Another common issue is wind noise from the driver’s side as well as the driver’s side mirror.

The driver’s side wind noise issue goes back a few model years with owners having dealers replacing the rubber door seal. In some cases, this helps, in others, it is still there.

Then, there is wind noise coming from the driver’s side mirror. Toyota issues a technical service bulletin (T-SB-0020-25) to address this issue on 2022-2025 Toyota Tundra models.

Other issues

There is a collection of other issues that don’t seem as prevalent or that have easy fixes.

For example, if the fuel gauge isn’t reading accurately, there is a fuel gauge reset sequence you can do yourself.

Some owners have found the driver’s side door interior trim piece can rattle like we found in our most recent video on a 2026 Toyota Tundra.

Other owners report finding paint chips, powered tailgate not operating correctly after a period of time, infotainment screen issues, brakes squealing and rubber trim pieces still not meeting on the rear door windows.
