Pick of the Day: 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Share

Did you know that the terms “velocity” and “speed” aren’t exactly synonyms? Speed simply defines how quickly something is moving, but velocity is a vector quantity that includes direction. Chevrolet emphasized the sixth-generation Corvette’s ability to achieve a change in position quickly, and our Pick of the Day is a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette convertible that understood the memo. It’s finished, of course, in Velocity Yellow, and listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Lakeside, California.

“Excellent condition, stock, unmodified,” the seller says. “Garage-kept with cover.”

The vivid Velocity Yellow exterior features a black cloth retractable top, projector headlights, fog lamps, and quad exhaust outlets. When the Corvette evolved into its sixth generation in 2005, one of the design changes included the removal of the pop-up headlights in favor of more contemporary fixed projector units. The C6 was also shorter overall than the C5, but it had a longer wheelbase.

The cabin is upholstered in black leather and features bucket seats, Bose audio system, head-up display, keyless access, cruise control, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Under the hood is GM’s LS2 6.0-liter V-8 that was rated at 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque when new. A six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential put power to the rear wheels. The car is said to be unmodified, and the odometer shows just 24,909 miles. Not bad for a car that’s two decades old!

The Corvette has always had a key advantage as a value-oriented sports car, bringing modern amenities, strong resale value, and reasonable maintenance costs. Add in the pizazz of Velocity Yellow paint and a 400-horsepower engine, and it’s the perfect Corvette for spirited top-down cruising this summer.

“Fun to drive! An eye catcher; lots of thumbs-up!” the seller concludes.

The seller is asking $33,000.
