Hogan Built’s 1969 Chevrolet K5 Blazer (aka “Blackberry Smoke”) displayed at the 2025 SEMA Show was a big, brawny custom build that showed an obvious attention to small details. Dan Hogan and his crew equipped the rig with a Roadster Shop chassis, Fox suspension hardware, and 17-inch KMC beadlock wheels with chunky BFGoodrich all-terrain rubber.
But look closer and you’ll see illuminated shadowboxes in the chromed billet trim and specially designed retractable side steps that come out of the rockers. The cabin shows a tastefully coordinated mix of textures, colors, and features, including Rolls-Royce-like fiber optic lighting in the headliner.
Don Hardy Race Cars built the LS3 6.2-liter V8, installing headers and a Whipple supercharger, which took the engine to a level of output never seen in the C6 Corvette: 900 horsepower. It sounds as if Blackberry Smoke can make plenty of tire smoke, too.
