Charged EVs | Alpitronic’s new HP Dispenser enables EV charging at up to 1 MW

EVSE manufacturer Alpitronic has expanded its HYC1000 distributed megawatt charging system with the addition of the HP Dispenser, designed for electric passenger vehicles that support higher charging power. Through a single liquid-cooled CCS2 connector, the HP Dispenser delivers charging currents of more than 1,000 A and charging power of up to 1,000 kW.

The HYC1000 platform is designed to support different vehicle classes with a single system. The HP Dispenser operates within a voltage range of 150 V to 1,000 V. Power is supplied by the central Power Cabinet in 62.5 kW increments. Each Power Cabinet has eight outputs, and each HP Dispenser uses two outputs. Up to four HP Dispensers can be connected to a single Power Cabinet.

The central Power Cabinet contains eight 125 kW Power Stacks for a total output of 1 MW. Depending on site requirements, the system can be configured with the MCS Dispenser for heavy-duty vehicles, the EV Dispenser with up to two CCS2 connectors, or the HP Dispenser with one CCS2 connector for passenger vehicles.

Mixed configurations are also supported. For example, three EV Dispensers with two CCS2 connectors each can be combined with one HP Dispenser, providing seven charging points, including one capable of charging at up to 1 MW through CCS2.

In 2025, Alpitronic tested the HP Dispenser on the high-speed track in Nardò, Italy. During an eight-day record drive, a prototype supported charging stops with an average charging power of about 850 kW. In subsequent testing, the prototype reached a peak charging power of 1,041 kW at a peak current of 1,176 A. The results informed the production version.

The HP Dispenser will initially be available in Europe, and is expected to be available in the US and Canada in 2027.

“Short charging times are a key requirement for many people when switching to electric mobility,” said Philipp Senoner, CEO of Alpitronic. “With the new HP Dispenser, we are expanding the HYC1000 with a solution that combines high charging power with the flexibility of a distributed charging system.”
