A few weeks ago, we covered the unthinkable right here on MotorBiscuit: Ford’s most loyal tuning house was crossing enemy lines for a major project with Ram. The teaser left us with more questions than answers, but the wait is officially over.
Roush Performance has fully unveiled the 2027 Ram 1500 Direct Connection—a highly engineered, turnkey off-roader designed to bridge the gap between a standard light-duty pickup and a dedicated desert runner. Best of all? It doesn’t ask you to sacrifice your factory warranty to get there.
Here is a quick look at the hardware that makes this unprecedented collaboration tick.
The Suspension: True Off-Road Geometry
The centerpiece of this build isn’t a massive supercharger, but rather the Roush Performance 2.0 Coil-Over Suspension System.
Instead of slapping on a generic lift kit, Roush engineered custom-tuned, twin-tube hydraulic dampers specifically calibrated for the Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4×4 platform. The goal was to provide aggressive off-road capability without destroying the truck’s on-road composure for the daily commute.
Sitting on 18-inch performance wheels wrapped in 33-inch General Tire Grabber A/TX rubber, the truck features a significantly wider, more planted stance than stock.
The Direct Connection Hardware
Under the hood, the Roush DC utilizes Ram’s proven 5.7-liter HEMI V8. However, Roush didn’t just leave it completely alone. They added an Active Cat-Back Performance Exhaust system with selectable modes, allowing drivers to cruise quietly on the highway or open up the valves when the pavement ends.
Visually, the truck borrows heavily from Ram’s aggressive parts bin while adding signature Roush flair. Built upon the Direct Connection Level 2 Equipment Group, the truck includes:
- A Sport Performance hood with aggressive extractors and Roush graphics.
- Protection Group skid plates and TRX-sourced off-road running boards.
- An electronic locking rear axle (ELocker) for maximum trail traction.
- A custom blackout grille featuring red “RAM” lettering and integrated accent lighting.
But the biggest selling point of the Roush Ram 1500 DC isn’t just the hardware; it’s the pedigree. Because this is a factory-blessed collaboration, the suspension modifications do not interfere with the truck’s factory ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) or its towing capacity.
The entire package adds $15,995 to the base vehicle price, bringing the total MSRP to approximately $78,960. You can order it directly through your local Ram dealer, and a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty backs every single Roush component.
For truck guys who have been dreaming of a highly capable, beautifully engineered daily driver that doesn’t void the factory fine print, this crossover event was well worth the wait.
