Cars of the late 1950s were fashion statements that epitomized American excess. Generous chrome trim, large tailfins, and colorful paint schemes made many vehicles seem like rolling works of art. The Buick brand was right at the forefront of all that action. Featured on AutoHunter is a 1957 Buick Century Riviera 4-Door listed for sale by a private party in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
You might have found Diego’s recent story about classic Buicks as informational and entertaining as I did. Buick, Olds, and Cadillac were all subject to unconventional year-over-year changes during the late 1940s and early 1950s, sometimes overlapping in design and engineering across model years. By 1957, the Buick lineup had diversified somewhat and was comprised of four models. Ranked in order of price point, they were Special, Century, Super, and Roadmaster.
This Century has a sleek four-door hardtop body style; exterior features include chrome brightwork, (non-functional) fender-mounted Ventiports, dual side mirrors, wrap-around windshield, sweepspear trim, triple rear windows, and 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. Note the integrated exhaust outlet in each corner of the rear bumper.

Interior features include red, white, and black vinyl bench seats, power steering, AM radio, padded dash, manual-crank windows, heater, clock, and floor mats.

In advertising materials, Buick called the 1957 Century “a car that tingles with spirit even at rest.” One advertisement said, “It’s a family-sized car with performance and handling even the sports cars can envy. It’s a car so new in everything from the ground up, it’s the newest new ever built. And it’s a car you’ll find that’s priced to be a wow of a buy.”

Under the hood is a 364ci V-8 that was rated at 300 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. A variable-pitch “Dynaflow Drive” single-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The listing notes that the radiator was flushed and the power steering fluid was topped off in June 2026.

As it approaches 70 years old, this ’57 remains as stylish as when it was new. Ready to make a fashion statement? It’s just a mouse-click (and a bid) away.
The auction for this 1957 Buick Century Riviera 4-Door ends Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. (PDT).
