2002 Honda S2000.
It’s too late for an April Fools’ Day prank, so this installment of Car Connections is 100 percent real. I had the Random Word Generator give me three words, then I linked them to cars in some way. I find that many car enthusiasts can associate anything with automobiles, so that’s what this series is all about. This week’s words are graduate, art, and wolf. How would you associate these words with cars? Tell us in the Comments section below.
Graduate: When I was in my late teens, I spent a lot of time in a Suzuka Blue 2002 Honda S2000 roadster. Why? Because it was a high-school graduation present, but not for me — my buddy Jake’s parents got it for him. Sure, the smoother and quieter six-speed manual gearbox, upgraded stereo, and glass rear window were nice, and the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter I-4’s 240 horsepower was cool, but we never stopped marveling at the stratospheric 8,880-rpm redline.

Art: Art is frequently shown in galleries. You typically have to drive to one of those, but if you’ve got a bankroll that’ll choke a hippo, you can afford a Rolls-Royce Phantom and see an art gallery every time you drive. According to the ultra-luxury automaker, The Gallery is “an uninterrupted glass enclosure to protect and present artwork within the motor car. An unprecedented space in which to curate and to commission fine and contemporary art. A gallery that exhibits and reflects the tastes, desires and personalities of the owner.”

The Gallery in the Phantom Scintilla, which was created to celebrate the Spirit of Ecstasy found at the nose of every Rolls, contains “Celestial Pulse.” The seven intertwined aluminum ribbons are coated in the same ceramic as the car’s special Spirit of Ecstacy. An Andalusian White and Thracian Blue two-tone finish, and massive disc wheels make the exterior just as aesthetically pleasing.

Wolf: The Spanish word for wolf is lobo. Lobo happens to be the name of the sporty street truck versions of the Maverick and F-150 that Ford introduced for the 2025 model year. The full-size truck may have been named after a wolf, but it has a Coyote heart.
