Genesis Magma GT exudes Aston, Koenigsegg energy in person!

Having established its place in the luxury car segment over the last decade with more than a million units in sales, Genesis is now exploring the performance car segment.

The GV60 Magma was the first step in this direction, and in the future, the South Korean brand could foray into the supercar space with the production version of the Magma GT Concept. CEO José Muñoz has confirmed to Edmunds that the Magma GT has passed the scientific and technical feasibility stages, with its financial feasibility under review.

We traveled to the 2026 Busan Mobility Show, where the Genesis Magma GT Concept is celebrating its Asian debut, and we got the opportunity to get up close with the car for the first time.

Originally showcased in the Magma-signature orange paint, the example we saw in South Korea is finished in a new green color, paired with copper wheels, which gives it a more European style, reminding us of Aston Martins and Koenigseggs.

The Genesis Magma GT Concept has a mid-engine layout, giving it dramatic proportions and a low, wide stance. It features a low-set hood, an elongated sloping roofline, muscular surfaces, scissor doors, and a look that’s unlike any Genesis from before.

Genesis designers have integrated canards with the headlamps to reduce lift, while a swoopy diffuser improves aerodynamics at the rear. The Genesis-signature two-line design is seen on the lights at the front and rear, as well as on the side extensions of the latter, integrated into the rear quarter panels.

The interior of the Genesis Magma GT Concept has a focused, driver-centric design. The dashboard has a slim, horizontal layout and flows neatly into the door panels, giving the cabin a wraparound feel. The flat-bottomed steering wheel features easy-to-reach buttons and large paddles, in line with the car’s performance theme.

The flat center console blends neatly with the dashboard and houses a compact touchscreen, physical rotary controls, and a prominent gear selector. The analog-style circular instruments is a refreshing change, while the quilted upholstery across the doors, dashboard, center console, and seats gives the cabin a rich, handmade look.

Genesis hasn’t revealed the complete specifications of the Magma GT Concept, but it says that the car sports a twin-turbo V8 engine producing up to 800 horsepower. The production version could use a hybrid powertrain, with variants like an S, roadster, and a GT3 likely during its extended lifecycle.

If Genesis finds a business case for it, the Magma GT could go on sale in the U.S. sometime in 2028, with a base price between USD 150,000-200,000. North America and South Korea are expected to be the markets with the highest demand for the halo model.
