Harbinger kicked off Work Truck Week 2026 in style with the launch of the HC Series Cab – a totally new medium-duty box truck chassis available in both full BEV and EREV versions and up to 26,000 lbs. of gross vehicle weight rating.
Harbinger says its all-new HC Series Cab delivers best-in-class maneuverability with a tight, 42-foot turning circle and superior visibility from a car-like driving position that’s not compromised by the needs of an internal combustion engine, addressing two of the most common issues faced by urban delivery fleets.
What’s more, the Harbinger chassis’ ultra-low 29″ frame height at maximum (GVWR) capacity makes entry, exit, and loading impressively easy.
“The HC Series Cab represents a major expansion of our product line and a defining moment for the medium-duty industry,” explains Harbinger CEO, John Harris. “For too long, fleets have had to compromise between payload, maneuverability, range and onboard capability. We engineered this platform to outperform legacy [gas and] diesel options while unlocking new advantages through electrification and our range-extended hybrid system to enable real work in the field.”
The HC Series Cab features a modular front-end design that should simplify repairs for Harbinger dealers and technicians, and work to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for fleet operators. Both BEV and EREV versions of the platform are engineered for long service life, with durability targets exceeding 450,000 miles.
Reading the tea leaves
Harbinger hasn’t released specs on the battery-electric version of the HC Series Cab, but it’s a safe bet that it uses the same EREV system as Harbinger’s van chassis. That truck marries 1.4L inline four-cylinder gas engine with a close coupled 800V generator sending power to a 140 or 175 kW battery good for the same 500 miles of fully loaded range as the HC and more than good enough to meet the needs of just about any fleet you can think of.
Following that logic, the BEV version of the HC Series Cab could use the same modular 800V system built from 35 kWh battery packs as the van, which can be configured up to 210 kWh of total capacity and up to 210 miles of claimed range – but we’ll have to wait for final specs (and pricing) to know if we’re on the right track.
Harbinger closes out the announcement citing that its new HC doubles as a portable power source, offering 15 kW of exportable V2L power to run external tools and job site equipment directly from the truck, and that its 2026+ model year trucks will ship with an advanced ADAS suite that features emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, and more.
