Toyota has been on a roll, taking us on a rollercoaster of emotions over the past couple of weeks, dating back to January 27th when Tim thought we were getting a Ford Maverick-style mini truck in the Toyota lineup. We now know that the 3-row vehicle Toyota will show the world tomorrow is the Highlander reborn as an EV. We also know that Toyota has no current plans to introduce a Maverick fighter. Sorry, Tim.
Charged and Ready

“Charged and Ready” were the words greeting me this morning in my inbox. Toyota is now showing us that we are just one day away from the first new EV from the brand since the CH-R’s rebirth announced last year. We also have confirmation of the name.
Highlander has served as the brand’s 3-row unibody SUV since it pioneered the segment over 25 years ago. However, with families wanting more space than the current generation could allow, Toyota introduced the Grand Highlander, which quickly stole the show. This new electric Highlander, wearing the brand’s Beyond Zero Battery Electric Vehicle Badge, confirms that the Highlander name will continue as the electric alternative to the gas-powered Grand.
Muscular Stance

The first teaser gave us a look at the silhouette of the Highlander from behind, showing an evolution of the electric bZ’s bold, futuristic style.
Roomy Interior

The second teaser image showed a roomy interior more akin to the Grand Highlander than the current gas and hybrid-powered Highlander on sale today. EVs make great platforms for improving interior space, so this 2027 Toyota Highlander should put the Grand Highlander on notice for spacious three-row vehicles in the brand’s portfolio.
Updated Tech

The interior shot not only told us we were seeing a roomy three-row SUV, but that it would be running the brand’s new infotainment software, first shown in the 2026 Toyota RAV4. This tile-based system should be a big improvement over Toyota’s first attempt at an in-house-designed operating system found in all other Toyota models on sale today.
More Information Tomorrow

We know Toyota plans to give more details on February 10th, so be sure to check back as we can tell you everything we know tomorrow.
