Leitner Designs has announced the new GearPOD HD, a third-generation version of its side-mounted truck bed storage system designed for heavy-duty use and increased storage capacity.

The new GearPOD HD is built from 11-gauge 5052 H32 aluminum instead of the rotomolded construction used on the standard GearPOD XL. According to Leitner Designs, the aluminum construction allows the company to eliminate internal ribbing and increase usable storage space by 20 percent while keeping the same exterior dimensions and nearly identical weight.
The company says the GearPOD HD was developed for overlanders, contractors and truck owners wanting a more durable storage solution mounted to the side of the bed rack system.
Leitner says the new storage box is compatible with existing Active Cargo System (ACS) rack setups and can directly replace the current GearPOD XL.
Features include:

- Steel locking latch with internal two-point locking system
- 20 percent more usable storage space than the GearPOD XL
- Made in the USA
GearPOD HD weighs 50 pounds and measures 48.75 inches long, 15.845 inches deep and 15.125 inches tall.
Leitner Designs has set pricing at $999.99.
