The recall monster rears its ugly head once more. FCA, Ram & Jeep’s parent company, cannot catch a break, with this latest recall, issued Feb 2, 2026, affecting over 450,000 2025 and 2026 model year Ram pickup trucks and chassis cabs, along with Jeep Wagoneer S and Cherokee models.
What Is Recalled?

Chrysler filed Safety Recall 26V059 with NHTSA on Feb 2, 2026, which outlines seven different models across the Ram and Jeep brands that likely include a faulty trailer tow module. The report reads that,
“The trailer turn signal will not flash when the vehicle turn signal lever is actuated, and the trailer stop lamps will not be activated upon application of the vehicle service brakes. In addition, if equipped, the trailer brakes will not function.”
This module, the “Trailer Brake & Towing Control” module in Chrysler’s parts catalogue, could be found in vehicles produced as long ago as September 27, 2023.
Parts numbers included in the recall are: 68602158AE, 68602158AF, 68602158AG, 68602159AE, 68602159AF, 68602159AG
What Vehicles are Involved?

The safety brief lists eight different models across the Ram and Jeep brands in the 456,287 vehicles included in this recall. Interesting that an EV and a yet unreleased Jeep Cherokee made the list, showing just how early production starts on brand new models.

What are the Risks?

Trailer lighting and brakes could fail in affected models and should not be used for towing until a fix is in place. Per the safety brief,
“Trailer lighting that is not illuminated may result in an approaching vehicle being unaware of the change of direction or speed of the vehicle and trailer which may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. The loss of trailer brakes can also cause a vehicle crash without a prior warning.”
Owners of affected vehicles will begin to be notified by FCA on or around March 24, 2026.
What You Should Do

FCA will replace the faulty units at no cost to the owners, but it is best to wait to hook up a trailer until your module has been replaced. You can preemptively check your VIN at nhtsa.gov to find out if your truck or SUV has the faulty unit and schedule a fix with your local dealer.
