A few weeks back, Roush Performance teased an upcoming collaboration with the Ram Trucks brand and many members of the media – myself included – thought that the Michigan tuning company was planning to roll out a modified version of the new Ram 1500 TRX SRT. Earlier today, Roush introduced their modified Ram 1500, and while it is not based on the supercharged TRX, it is a Hemi-powered half-ton made to dominate off-road settings.
This new package is called the 2027 Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush and it is based on the Ram 1500 Big Horn Level 2 truck with the 5.7-liter Hemi. Here is a look at what makes this Roush truck unique.
Roush Performance Suspension is the Key
The heart of the 2027 Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush is the suspension system, which is comprised of a Roush Performance coil-over package that adds two inches of lift with twin-tube hydraulic dampers that help the truck handle the roughest terrain. Of course, the full suspension system is tuned to maintain proper geometry while still improving the approach, departure and breakover angles. The capabilities are aided by a set of Roush 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch General Grabber ATX rubber and underbody skid plates.
Roush Adds a Sportier Exterior
Next, this Roush pickup gets an array of exterior upgrades that lead to a far more aggressive look and stance. The wheel-and-tire package that we mentioned above start that exterior upgrade and the suspension package bolsters the stance. Roush then adds a sport performance hood with functional heat extractors, a high-flow grille with custom lighting, fender flares with integrated lighting, a body-colored front bumper, red tow hooks, Mopar off-road running boards and unique graphics from Direct Connection and Roush Performance.
Ram 1500 Interior Comfort and Technology
The 2027 Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush is based on the Big Horn Level 2 package, so it comes with the 12-inch UConnect screen, an Alpine sound system, wireless charging, a heated steering wheel and heated seats, but the package adds a bit more luxury with a set of Mopar leather seat covers. This package also adds a Direct Connection by Roush center console badge, a passenger side dash badge and Direct Connection by Roush Floor Mats.
Roush Helps the Hemi Roar
The last key component of the new Roush Ram is the active exhaust system. The Roush Performance Active Cat-Back exhaust system uses a button on the dashboard and a set of valves to control the volume level, with open and closed settings allowing the 5.7-liter Hemi to grumble or roar. This exhaust system is finished with a set of black Direct Connection by Roush tips, enhancing the sporty look of the package.
Pricing and Other Options
The 2027 Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush has a starting price of $78,960 and for that price, you get everything that is mentioned above. This unique package can be ordered in five exterior colors – Molten Red, white, black, Forged Blue and Granite Crystal. Optional upgrades include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, rear under-seat storage, Trailer Tow II and the RamBox cargo management system, but we don’t have pricing for those extra items.
