Roush. Saleen. Steve McQueen. All of those are names associated with the Ford Mustang, but only independently of each other. That’s what makes our Pick of the Day so special. You can find this supercharged 2009 Ford Mustang Bullitt listed on ClassicCars.com by a dealership in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It comes with manuals, books, and a clean CARFAX report.
When I owned a 2008 Mustang Bullitt, I never had the urge to modify it because it came from the factory as a thoroughly upgraded Mustang GT. It was equipped with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Package that increased the output of the 4.6-liter V-8 to 315 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Stiffer shocks and springs, and a strut tower brace helped it better handle the road (or recover from launching over the hills of San Francisco). Ford offered the Bullitt in Black, but I insisted on getting mine in Dark Highland Green, similar to the color of the 1968 Mustang GT 390 driven by Steve McQueen in the classic film “Bullitt.”

If I had seen this 2009 Bullitt on the lot when I was shopping for my first Mustang, things might have turned out differently. It’s Black (making it one of only 181 produced in that color for 2009), but the way it’s presented here makes it so appealing. What really helps sell the color is a set of 19-inch Saleen wheels 275/35 front and 305/30 rear Nitto Invo tires. That combination makes this sort of “cop car” look more like a “bad guy” car — in the coolest way.

Whoever this Bullitt is fired at, it’ll reach them quickly thanks to the Roush TVS2300 supercharger under the hood. According to the seller, the blower was installed by the original dealer, Wayne Ford in Wayne, New Jersey. “Upgrades included an SCT-1 ECU tune, 3V heat range spark plugs, a dual fuel pump system, Roush clutch, aluminum driveshaft and flange, Brembo front brakes, and 3V Mustang headers with catted crossover.”

Even better, there are only 23,798 miles on the odometer. The state of the paint and the Dark Charcoal leather interior with engine-turned trim reflects the low figure.

As I learned with my Bullitt, some things will have to be replaced because of their age, but there’s so much life left in this car – and so many adventures to go on in it. If you buy this 2009 Ford Mustang Bullitt for the asking price of $28,500, keep your eyes open for shady characters in Dodge Chargers.
