A round up of brief pickup, SUV and automotive news items of note from the week ending February 27, 2026. Secret Chevy spotted + more!
We see a lot of news stories cross our desks in the course of a week. Not all of them are big enough to warrant a full writeup by your tireless Pickup Truck+SUV Talk staff, so we’re bringing you this weekly round up of all the little stories we thought you might want to know about.
Chevy Secret Revealed?

An eagle-eyed reader of the site spotted this draped and stealthy vehicle (you can see another pic at the top of this story) while out and about in northern Minnesota. “I assume Chevy/GMC due to the rear step bumper,” the observant fan writes. “I believe the truck is an HD truck, based on stance. It has quad rear exhaust through the rear bumper, sort of like ram but they are square exhaust tubes. I believe the truck is cold weather testing in northern Minnesota. Looking closer it must be a half ton, it’s only six-lug wheels. It seems to show there are leaf springs as well, which I thought they might move to coil based suspension like Toyota and Ram.”
That’s all the info we have for now (hence why it’s here and not in its own story!) but we know some of you live for this stuff, so enjoy!

The Next Innovation in Electric Is Gas

The electric-vehicle haters are going to love this one: the latest innovation in the electric vehicle space is … gas generators. The newly reborn Scout Motors have announced a gas-generator-extended option in its Terra pickup and Traveler SUV that increases the range from 350 miles to 500. The tech, called EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle), may also make an appearance in Ram and Jeep vehicles soon!
Are Your Tires Tracking You?

Spanish researchers released an alarming report suggesting that malicious actors could use your tires’ built-in pressure-monitoring systems to track your movement, adding to the myriad ways everyone from the NSA to your psycho ex can track you down. The good news is that apparently, no one’s done it yet in the wild. (And yeah, that “yet” is doing a lot of heavy lifting now that you mention it.)
