Subaru Uncharted looks on the bright side in Habanero Orange

The Subaru Uncharted, which we got up close with earlier this year, is Subaru’s first all-electric compact crossover for the U.S. market. It’s also one of Subaru’s unique models as it offers a front-wheel drive option.

The corporate cousin of the 2026 Toyota C-HR BEV will expand Subaru’s EV lineup with a smaller footprint than the Solterra. The lineup includes Premium FWD, Sport, and GT trims.

We recently spent time with the future model, in prototype-spec, in the GT trim. It was in the Habanero Orange Metallic color specified with the dual-tone option (USD 970). Here are our observations.

Design

At the front, the 2026 Uncharted uses a closed front surface and a slim upper grille element, with the Subaru logo centered in a big nose opening and a larger lower intake section. Headlamps are narrow and extend horizontally toward the fenders, with lighting signatures positioned at the outer edges.

Viewed from the side, the Uncharted adopts short overhangs, with a roofline that slopes toward the rear and the beltline rising from the front door to the rear quarter panel. Wheel arches are framed by protective cladding.

Wheel sizes vary by trim, with 18-inch wheels on Premium FWD and 20-inch wheels on GT models. All-wheel-drive models include low-profile roof rails.

At the rear, the vehicle features a sloped tailgate integrated into the roofline with a roof-mounted spoiler above the rear glass. All variants are available in five different color options, with a two-tone roof option available on the GT trim.

Interior

A 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard across all trims, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included as standard. Dual wireless phone chargers sit in the front center-console area, and rear passengers receive USB-C charging ports. Interior ambient lighting is standard.

All trims include a power liftgate, heated front seats and heated mirrors as part of the standard All-Weather Package. Interior trim varies by grade, with StarTex water-repellent upholstery standard on Sport and GT models. Cargo volume comes in at 25.4 cu ft with the load floor in the lower position (23.0 cu ft in the upper position).

GT trims add ventilated front seats and heated rear outboard seats, while also including a panoramic glass roof with a motorized shade, Harman Kardon premium audio, and a digital rearview mirror as standard.

Specifications

The Subaru Uncharted uses a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery. The Premium FWD trim carries a manufacturer-estimated range of more than 300 miles. Sport and GT trims with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive carry an anticipated range of up to 290 miles.

Premium FWD models use a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup rated at 221 horsepower. Sport and GT models use a dual-motor setup with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, rated at up to 338 horsepower, and deliver a manufacturer-claimed 0-60 mph time of less than 5 seconds

The Uncharted supports DC fast charging via a NACS port with access to about 25,000 Tesla Supercharger locations in the U.S. Subaru says a 10%-80% fast charge can take as little as 28 minutes at up to 150 kW.

For home charging, Subaru lists a Level 2 charge time of about 7 hours on a 240V/32A connection, and the vehicle supports Level 1 and Level 2 charging.

Price & Release Date

Subaru confirms the 2026 Uncharted will go on sale at U.S. retailers in early 2026, with deliveries starting in spring 2026. Pricing (MSRP) begins at USD 34,995 for the Premium FWD, USD 39,795 for the Sport, and USD 43,795 for the GT.
