

Two massive recalls on 2020-2024 Ford Explorer, Escape, Lincoln Aviator, Corsair: 889,950 for rear camera issue; 604,533 for windshield wiper failure.
Two separate recalls were recently announced affecting certain 2020-2022 Ford Escape and Explorer, plus Lincoln Aviator and Corsair models, and some 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer vehicles. The first recall, for issues with the rear camera, affects up to 889,950 vehicles; the second, for windshield wiper failure, affects 2020-2022 model year Ford Explorer and Escape, and Lincoln Aviator and Corsair models. Rear Camera Issue: 890K Vehicles

Ford is announcing a recall for 889,950 2020-2022 Explorer, Escape, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. certain 2020-2022 Escape, Lincoln Corsair, 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator, and Explorer vehicles. The image on the center display may flip or invert, resulting in an incorrectly displayed rearview image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, the vehicles don’t comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.”
The remedy is currently under development. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed April 17, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated second quarter of 2026.

Descriptive Information:
The Ford process is capable of determining which hardware part numbers have been installed in production and service. Affected vehicles contain a JDI center stack display and Sync 3 infotainment system.
These vehicles are not produced in VIN order. Information as to the applicability of this action to specific vehicles can best be obtained by either calling Ford’s toll-free line (1-866-436-7332) or by contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealer who can obtain specific information regarding the vehicles from the Ford On-line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) database
516,780 2020-2022 Ford Escape vehicles are affected. 84,241 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles are affected. 178,233 2020-2024 Ford Explorer vehicles are affected. 110,696 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator vehicles are affected.
Description of defect or noncompliance:
On the affected vehicles, it may be possible to have the SYNC screen image on the center display flipped or inverted immediately after an ignition cycle. This may result in the image displayed having inverted or flipped buttons, camera guidelines, and the rearview camera image while in reverse gear. As a result, the affected vehicles may not conform to the requirements specified by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, sections 5.5.1 and 5.5.6 (Field of View and Default View).
Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:
A rearview camera that does not display a correct image while in reverse gear can reduce the driver’s view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Description of remedy program:
Software is not available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide software for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available in Quarter 2 of 2026.
Description of recall schedule:
Notification to dealers is expected to occur on March 5, 2026. Mailing of interim owner notification letters is expected to begin April 17, 2026 and is expected to be completed by April 22, 2026. The date VINs are planned to be searchable is March 5, 2026.
Windshield Wiper Failure: 605K Vehicles

Ford is announcing a recall for 604,533 2020-2022 Explorer, Escape, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. The windshield wiper motor may fail and prevent the windshield wipers from operating properly.
Dealers will inspect and replace the front wiper motors as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed March 9, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in May 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 26S14. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 4, 2026.

Affected vehicles are equipped with front windshield wiper motors that may have a condition in which the motor’s cover terminal is misaligned with the motor’s brush card terminal. Ford’s team reviewed supplier process and warranty part return teardown analysis records to determine the population of affected parts. The Ford process is capable of tracing front windshield wiper motor production to the vehicle in which the motor is installed.

Affected vehicles may exhibit intermittently operating or inoperative front windshield wipers.
Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:
Inoperative front windshield wipers may result in reduced visibility or loss of visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.
Identification of any warning that can occur:
Front wiper functionality may be intermittent before progressing to a state of complete inoperability
Description of remedy program:
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer. Dealers will inspect front wiper motors and replace as needed. There will be no charge for this service.
Description of recall schedule:
Notification to dealers is expected to occur on March 4, 2026. Mailing of interim owner notification letters is expected to begin March 9, 2026, and is expected to be completed by March 13, 2026.
